Psalm 12 – 18

(text)

[Psalm 12]

“With our words we get what we want.
    We will say what we wish,
    and no one can stop us.”

The power of the tongue and lies (John 8:44).

[Psalm 13]

In the world of the dead you are not remembered;
    no one can praise you there.I rely on your constant love;
    I will be glad, because you will rescue me.
I will sing to you, O Lord,
    because you have been good to me.In the world of the dead you are not remembered;
    no one can praise you there.

May I know you are the source of my deliverance, Lord.

[Psalm 14]

They are all corrupt,
    and they have done terrible things;
    there is no one who does what is right.

The Lord looks down from heaven at us humans
    to see if there are any who are wise,
    any who worship him.
But they have all gone wrong;
    they are all equally bad.
Not one of them does what is right,
    not a single one.

Romans 3:10-18.

[Psalm 15]

Those who obey God in everything
    and always do what is right… Whoever does these things will always be secure.

May I be perfect as you are, Heavenly Father (Matthew 5:48). Psalm memorized (in French). 😊

[Psalm 16]

I praise the Lord, because he guides me,
    and in the night my conscience warns me.
I am always aware of the Lord’s presence;
    he is near, and nothing can shake me.

And so I am thankful and glad,
    and I feel completely secure,

May you always be the source of my joy, Lord (Philippiens 4:4). Psalm memorized (in French). 😊

[Psalm 17]

I have always walked in your way
    and have never strayed from it.

I pray to you, O God, because you answer me;
    so turn to me and listen to my words.I have always walked in your way
    and have never strayed from it.

I pray to you, O God, because you answer me;
    so turn to me and listen to my words.

Being righteous doesn’t necessarily lead to answered prayer (Job 31:35-37).

[Psalm 18]

The Lord… tore the sky open and came down
    with a dark cloud under his feet.
He flew swiftly on his winged creature;[j]
    he traveled on the wings of the wind.
He covered himself with darkness;
    thick clouds, full of water, surrounded him.
Hailstones and flashes of fire
    came from the lightning before him
    and broke through the dark clouds.

Then the Lord thundered from the sky;
    and the voice of the Most High was heard.

The Storm (Job 36:33-37:5; 38:1).

The Lord alone is God;
    God alone is our defense.
He is the God who makes me strong,
    who makes my pathway safe.
He makes me sure-footed as a deer;
    he keeps me safe on the mountains.

Thank you, Sovereign Lord (Habakkuk 3:18-19).
