King David was now living in his palace. One day he sent for the prophet Nathan and said to him, “Here I am living in a house built of cedar, but the Lord’s Covenant Box is kept in a tent!”
Nathan answered, “Do whatever you have in mind, because God is with you.”
The prophet Nathan and David were living Romans 12:2. Do complete that which you have started in me, Father (Philippiens 1:6).
But that night God said to Nathan, “Go and tell my servant David that I say to him, ‘You are not the one to build a temple for me to live in.”
The reason for which is given in 1 Chronicles 22:8. There will always be exceptions in life where God specifically intervenes in order to change steer events in a different direction. A servant has tasks to perform, Lord. Please entrust me with them.
“So tell my servant David that I, the Lord Almighty, say to him, ‘I took you from looking after sheep in the fields and made you the ruler of my people Israel. I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have defeated all your enemies as you advanced. I will make you as famous as the greatest leaders in the world.
I would not pretend to have such a future, Father, nor would I merit one. That said, whatever the outcome of my life, may it be because of you.
When you die and are buried with your ancestors, I will make… and will keep… I will make sure… I will be… I will not withdraw… I will put…”
I so wish that something of me will endure after I die, Lord (Hebrews 11:4). May you greet me with pride (Luke 19:16-17). May what I build on the foundation survive the fire (1 Corinthiens 3:8-14).
