Job 18:1 – 19:29

[Bildad 2]

(text)

The light of the wicked will still be put out;
its flame will never burn again.

Bildad is picking up the same theme said in a different way. It’s almost as if by repeating something loud enough and often enough that it becomes reality…

They have no descendants, no survivors.

The importance of having descendants, rooted in the ancient notion that the parents continue to live on through their children.

[Job 2b]

You are my friends! Take pity on me!
The hand of God has struck me down.

“Have pity on me, have pity on me, O you my friends, for the hand of God has touched me!” – Syracuse University campus.

How I wish that someone would remember my words
and record them in a book!
Or with a chisel carve my words in stone
and write them so that they would last forever.

Done! 😊

…I know there is someone in heaven
who will come at last to my defense.
Even after my skin is eaten by disease,
while still in this body[e] I will see God.[f]
I will see him with my own eyes,
and he will not be a stranger.

Amen! Thank you, Jesus (Hebrews 7:24-25; Revelation 19:11-16).
