Psalm 35 – 38

(text)

[Psalm 35]

Oppose those who oppose me, Lord,
    and fight those who fight against me!

Then I will be glad because of the Lord;
    I will be happy because he saved me.
With all my heart I will say to the Lord,
    “There is no one like you.
    You protect the weak from the strong,
    the poor from the oppressor.”

In many of these psalms, there is an implicit bargaining from the psalmist: “Lord if you do this, then I will…”

[Psalm 36]

Sin speaks to the wicked deep in their hearts;
    they reject God and do not have reverence for him.
Because they think so highly of themselves,
    they think that God will not discover their sin and condemn it.

May I ever be humble before you, Lord (Jeremiah 9:23-24).

[Psalm 37]

Trust in the Lord and do good…
Seek your happiness in the Lord,
    and he will give you your heart’s desire.

Give yourself to the Lord;
    trust in him, and he will help you;
he will make your righteousness shine like the noonday sun.

Be patient and wait for the Lord to act;

This is what I have done and continue to do, Lord. I wait…

But the Lord laughs at wicked people,
    because he knows they will soon be destroyed.

We look at life as a snapshot in time while God sees the entire video.

The Lord takes care of those who obey him…
They will not suffer when times are bad;
    they will have enough in time of famine.

May it be so, Father (Matthew 7:24-25).

I am old now; I have lived a long time…

Yep…

[Psalm 38]

Because I have been foolish…

I am confident, Heavenly Father, that my foolishness, incompetence and stupidity will in no way impede your wonderful plans (Matthew 16:5-12).
