Psalm 1 – 4

(text)

…they find joy in obeying the Law of the Lord,
    and they study it day and night.
They are like trees that grow beside a stream,
    that bear fruit at the right time,
    and whose leaves do not dry up.
They succeed in everything they do.

Thank you, Lord, for the love for your word that you put in my heart since the beginning. That said, I seem to still be waiting for “the right time” and the fruit that comes with it. As for everything I’ve done, I don’t see much in the way of success…

Why do the nations plan rebellion?
    Why do people make their useless plots?

May I forever remain calm in your presence, Father (Psalm 131).

“I will announce,” says the king, “what the Lord has declared.
    He said to me: ‘You are my son;
    today I have become your father.

Thank you, Holy Spirit, for resting upon Mary (Luke 1:35). Jesus is the Word of God from the beginning (John 1:1, 14) but here the relationship changes – and for us as well (Galatians 4:3-7).

“Ask, and I will give you all the nations;
    the whole earth will be yours.
You will break them with an iron rod;
    you will shatter them in pieces like a clay pot.’”

How I look forward to that day, Lord Jesus (Daniel 7:13-14; Revelation 19:11-16).

…you, O Lord, are always my shield from danger;
    you give me victory
    and restore my courage.
I call to the Lord for help,
    and from his sacred hill he answers me.

I lie down and sleep,
    and all night long the Lord protects me.
I am not afraid…

Thank you, Father.

There are many who pray:
    “Give us more blessings, O Lord.
    Look on us with kindness!”
But the joy that you have given me
    is more than they will ever have
    with all their grain and wine.

When I lie down, I go to sleep in peace;
    you alone, O Lord, keep me perfectly safe.

Thank you, Father. May that always be the case with me.
