2 Chronicles 34:22 – 35:19

(text)

At the king’s command, Hilkiah and the others went to consult a woman named Huldah, a prophet… They described to her what had happened, and she told them to go back to the king and give him the following message from the Lord:

Did she receive this revelation before (1 Kings 14:4-5), after (2 Kings 3:14-19) or did she reason it out on her own (2 Samuel 16:23)?

“You listened… you repented… [you] humbled yourself… you heard…”

May this always be my response before you, Father.

“I have heard your prayer… I will let you die in peace.”

I ask not for a long life but a full one, Lord.

King Josiah summoned all the leaders of Judah and Jerusalem, and together they went to the Temple

The right reflex. May this always be mine, Lord.

King Josiah destroyed all the disgusting idols that were in the territory belonging to the people of Israel, and as long as he lived, he required the people to serve the Lord, the God of their ancestors.

I don’t believe that state religion is the answer today.

“Put the sacred Covenant Box in the Temple that King Solomon, the son of David, built. You are no longer to carry it from place to place…”

It wasn’t permanently kept in the temple?! When did this take place?

So, as King Josiah had commanded, everything was done that day for the worship of the Lord, the keeping of the Passover Festival, and the offering of burnt offerings on the altar.

The culture was so important back then. I am persuaded that this is no longer the case (John 4:23; Romans 14:5).
